Orton-Gillingham
Orton-Gillingham is a language-based, multisensory, structured, sequential, and cumulative approach to teaching reading that has been in use since 1930 and has been proven to benefit all students, especially struggling readers. Neurologically and linguistically sound, it is the most prevalent and successful model of reading intervention.
According to the National Institutes of Health, 95% of children who have trouble learning to read reach grade level if they receive specialized help early on. Kindergarten to the middle of First grade is the “window of opportunity” to prevent long term reading problems. By providing OG instruction, Lectores para el futuro effectively targets the gap in order to close it.
